Week 3 Waiver Pickups

Here are some players to look at pickup up in Week 3 waivers…

Robert Quiroga (ORL) 8 catches for 103 yards, 3 TDs, 3 tackles, 1 assist – Did you miss out on grabbing him last week?  Don’t miss out this week.  Quiroga is an all-around threat.
Bobby Sippio (ORL) 7 catches for 104 yards, 2 TDs — Sippio is back and should take over this offense soon.  If owners slept on him during the draft, now is the time to make your move.

Week 3 Studs and Duds

In the AFL there are the knowns, the unknowns, the known unknowns, and then the totally whacked out. The following are some of the highlights….

Studs:

Aaron Garcia, uber-veteran QB for the Jacksonville Sharks rocked the house with 17 for 19 for 308 yards and eight strikes into the fabled Zone of End.

Greg Orton, wideout for the Spokane Shock had 9 catches for an eye-popping 203 yards and 5 TDs. The team can’t get a win though, and the coaching change adds to the turmoil.

Jeron Harvey, wide receiver for Jacksonville 10 catches for an incredible 173 yards and four dances beneath the yellow iron.

Arizona wideout Trandon “Trampoline” Harvey cleaned up with Rod Windsor temporarily acting the role of dud and decoy. Harvey had 11 catches for 50 yards and 4 TDs. Expect Windsor to improve on his one TD debut and start eating into Harvey’s feast.

AFL Fantasy QB Rankings for Week 2

  1. Mark Grieb – QB San Jose:  Tons of yardage and TDs through the air in this one.
  2. JJ Raterink – QB Kansas City:  There is a chance this kid’s arm falls off throwing the ball so much to keep up with SaberKitty’s!
  3. Nick Davilla – QB Arizona:  Bad Mustang D equals 330+ yards and at least 5 TDs
  4. Kyle Rowley – QB Spokane:  Don’t let last week fool you.  KRowl has too much talent and a home game against the Glads is what the doctored ordered.  300+ yards and five TDs can be expected.
  5. Justin Allgood – QB Philadelphia:  Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Allgood, but the Rush D at home will bring some heat.  280+yards and five TDs sound about right.
  6. Russ Michna – QB Chicago:  If his rookie WRs keep playing like they did in week one, the league better take notice!

Arena Football Fantasy Revelations by the Fantasy Guru

So what did we learn from the opening week in the AFL you ask?  Allow me to take some time to reflect upon week one of the 2011.

After taking one year off, SaberCat QB Mark Grieb and this offense have not missed a beat and looked down right scary. With no James Roe or Ben Nelson from past teams, Veteran WR Rodney Wright filled in beautifully catching 12 passes for 123 years and a TD. WR Nichiren Flowers stole the show though and caught a team high four TD’s from Grieb. If the ‘Cats were not passing, they were doing damage on the ground with FB/LB Chad Cook. Cook carries the ball 11 times for 23 yards and crossed the pay dirt three times. Look for this guy to milk the clock early and often if the ‘Cats continue to get big leads. Defensively the SaberCats forced three picks, two of which were returned for TDs. The Spokane Shock got started off slow in this game early one which is something you can’t do with a high octane offense like the ‘Cats have. This forced QB Kyle Rowley to throw early and often to the WR trio of Raul Vigil, Markee White, and Greg Orton. Vigil was Rowley’s main target throughout the night catching 13 passes for 161 yards and three TDs. But Rowley also managed to throw three picks, which ultimately lead to the 28-point drubbing.
